First, starting with comfy gypsy/yoga pants...
And traditional Thai "fisherman" pants...
This traditional pants design is known in Thailand as “fisherman pants” because the style has been commonly worn by local fishermen for centuries. The distinct aspect of the design is the way in which they are worn by tying them around the waist and folding the top down.
Along the folds, I have added authentic
handmade textiles salvaged from traditional H’Mong garments. The H’Mong are an ethnic minority, or hill
tribe, that resides in the mountainous region of Northern Thailand. The H’mong people are known for their
remarkable weaving and embroidery skills, passed down by the women through the
generations. For more information on the H'Mong, please see my blogpost Meeting the H'Mong .
I will be adding new pants each week and making the addition of Thai sarongs and skirts too, so please stay tuned!
